The Philadelphia 76ers have been trending in the wrong direction.

Tyrese Maxey to miss at least 3 weeks with finger tendon injury
After occupying a top-six spot for much of the current campaign, the Sixers now find themselves in the No. 8 spot in the East – in the Play-In range – with a couple of teams nipping at their heels.
And now the Sixers will be without offensive engine Tyrese Maxey for the next three weeks, at least, due to a tendon injury in his rink pinkie.

Following consultation with multiple hand specialists, which included a review of additional imaging, Tyrese Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury to the small finger on his right hand.
Maxey will be reevaluated in approximately three weeks. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.
Keep in mind, the Sixers are already without Paul George due to suspension and Joel Embiid has missed six straight games for the Sixers due to physical ailments. Embiid’s status and availability moving forward remains nebulous.
Moving up in the standings in the East at this point will be an extremely tall task for a short-handed Sixers squad. Even holding off the teams directly below them in the standings like the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets could prove difficult, especially since both teams have been playing better basketball than the Sixers as of late.
At this point, the Sixers feel destined to be a play-in team, or to miss the playoffs entirely.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhen it comes to Maxey individually, the star guard needs to play in at least four more games this season in order to be eligible for awards and All-NBA consideration. After the productibe season that he’s had, it would be unfortunate if Maxey were ultimately ineligible for such recognition.
