The first day of free agency officially started on Wednesday, offering the New England Patriots the opportunity to acquire new talent in the open market.

The Patriots had eight players slated to become unrestricted free agents, two headed for restricted free agency, as well as three due to be exclusive rights free agents this offseason. New England was tied to high-profile pending free agents before the start of the legal tampering window.

Some of their key signings so far have been edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones, fullback Reggie Gilliam, safety Kevin Byard, wide receiver Romeo Doubs and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker. That’s how the Patriots’ offseason is shaping up in 2026.

Just a year ago, New England’s signings of defensive tackle Milton Williams, as well as wide receiver Stefon Diggs, helped the franchise improve from 4-13 in 2024 to 14-3 in 2025, as the Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2018 season.

Let’s take a look at all of the free agent signings that the Patriots made in 2025, from the time that the signing window opened on March 12 of that year, until the season opener in Week 1, as well as how those players performed for New England last season.

WR Stefon Diggs (UFA)

Contract: Three-years, $63.5 million

DT Milton Williams (UFA)

Contract: Four years, $104 million

LB Harold Landry III (UFA)

Contract: Three years, $43.5 million

The Patriots reshaped their depth chart at linebacker in the 2025 offseason. Landry was perhaps the highest-profile linebacker to join the Patriots in free agency last year. He led New England in sacks in 2025 with 8.5.
