Watch two generations of Star Trek actors take to the stage to perform a stunning rendition of a classic song spotlighted in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Certified Fresh at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 is nearing its end, with the final two episodes streaming on March 5th and March 12th, respectively, on Paramount+.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy's premiere concluded with a resonant montage set to "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" as the USS Athena starship arrives on Earth and docks onto Starfleet Academy's San Francisco campus for the first time. Originally written by John Phillips and sung by Scott McKenzie in 1967, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy composer Jeff Russo's version was performed by Rufus Wainwright.

At the Star Trek Cruise, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy stars Zoë Steiner and Robert Picardo joined forces to deliver an uplifting performance of "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)." Steiner sang ethereal vocals and performed on the keyboard, while Picardo delivered a speech offering context of the song's history and relevance to Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Accompanying Zoë Steiner and Robert Picardo's performance of "San Francisco" are clips from the pivotal scene in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy's premiere of the USS Athena arriving in the Bay Area, and the dazzled looks of the cavalcade of alien Starfleet cadets seeing San Francisco appear on the screen.

As Robert Picardo's speech explains, "San Francisco" was written during the tumultuous 1960s as a hopeful tome with flowers symbolizing nature's "rebirth and renewal." Star Trek: Starfleet Academy epitomizes the same optimism, showing a better tomorrow of interstellar cooperation over a thousand years in the future.

Star Trek on Paramount+ continues to showcase the musical talents of its actors. Isa Briones performed "Blue Skies" on Star Trek: Picard and live at Star Trek Day 2021. Of course, the entire cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds performed in its historic musical episode, with the magnificent vocals of Celia Rose Gooding, Christina Chong, and Rebecca Romijn leading the way.

Most fans only know Zoë Steiner as the Betazoid-in-turmoil, Tarima Sadal, and her performance of "San Francisco" at her first-ever Star Trek Cruise is a revelation. Meanwhile, Star Trek icon Robert Picardo balanced Steiner's vocals with gravitas and words of hope in this wonderful on-stage team-up of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy actors spanning generations.
